Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge are proud new parents. On Friday, May 24, 2024, they announced the birth of their daughter Eloise Samantha Grainge on Instagram. Her name has an important meaning to them.
Elliot’s mom Samantha Berg suffered an amniotic fluid embolism when giving birth to Elliot in 1993. This caused her to be in a waking coma. She died in 2007. Elliot and Sofia wanted to honor her memory, so they gave their daughter her name.
Sofia’s Instagram post revealed that Eloise was born on May 20, 2024. She did not share a full photo of her daughter. The picture just showed her tiny toes.
Sofia and Elliot first met as kids as their families are friends. Elliot’s father is Lucian Grainge, the chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group. Sofia’s dad is musician Lionel Richie, so they ran in similar music industry circles. This gave them a firm foundation on which to build a relationship. After Sofia’s high-profile relationship with reality TV personality Scott Disick, she needed something less dramatic.

Sofia and Elliot first sparked dating rumors in January 2021. By March of that year, things were Instagram official. In April 2022, they announced their engagement. They were married the following year at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France.
