‘Flight From Hell’: Ryanair Pilot Prompted To Make Emergency Landing Due To Mass Brawl

A mass brawl erupted on a Ryanair flight mid-air, causing the pilot to make an emergency landing because of the chaos. The Sun reported that the plane departed from Agadir, Morocco, and was bound for London, when the mayhem broke out at 30,000 feet in the air. The "flight from hell" reportedly started with a man asking to switch seats with another passenger, and everything was caught on video by another passenger.

The tension apparently started before takeoff, when the man asked a woman who was sitting with her daughter if he could have her seat in order to be with his wife and children. The woman reportedly refused to change seats, prompting the man to begin threatening her.

Without knowing of what was happening in the cabin, the flight's pilots took off as scheduled. The flight was in the air for roughly 35 minutes before it had to make an "unexpected landing," according to an unidentified passenger, described as a finance worker from Hertfordshire, UK.

As soon as the seat belt sign was turned off, the husband of the woman who was threatened came to her defense. "They were trying to punch each other," the anonymous passenger recalled. "One of the families was part of a larger group, so other passengers started to join in. Then a lady in the row behind started to have a panic attack because of everything going on. She was screaming and there were kids crying. It was like a snowball effect."

"It was so stressful. It was like the flight from hell. And it all escalated from that one passenger wanting to change seats," he added. In the video, you can hear passengers screaming and behaving in a disorderly manner.

A male passenger reportedly became ill during the chaos and had to be administered oxygen by the cabin crew before landing. Police boarded the plane as soon as it landed in Marrakech, Morocco, detaining and removing nine passengers involved in the brawl. But the chaos didn't end there.

The male passenger who'd fallen ill was deemed unfit to fly after being treated by medics. However, he didn't leave the plane without a fight. "They think I’m a terrorist. That’s why they’re bringing the whole army here to take me down," he reportedly said. "Give me my [expletive] bag. I will whack your jaw, bruv."

The remaining passengers on the flight pleaded with the ill man to get off, but it took more police getting back on the plane to remove him. It took over two hours for the chaos to be contained, but by then the Ryanair crew had reached their maximum flying hours.

Passengers were taken to a local hotel for the night and booked on a new flight the next morning. That flight was also canceled, delaying their arrival in London.

A spokesperson for Ryanair told The Sun that the "disruptive passengers" caused the delay, saying the "flight from Agadir to London Stansted diverted to Marrakesh after a small group of passengers became disruptive, and during which time another passenger became ill onboard."

The spokesperson added, "Crew called ahead for both medical and police assistance, which met the aircraft upon arrival at Marrakesh. The small group of disruptive passengers were then removed from the aircraft by airport gendarmerie. The passenger who became ill was provided with oxygen onboard before being treated by airport medics, who determined that they were not fit to fly. This passenger refused to disembark and became abusive towards crew, and was removed from the aircraft by airport gendarmerie.”
