Armie Hammer’s recent vasectomy was actually a birthday gift from his mom. The disgraced actor, who has been accused of sexual misconduct and cannibalism, recently started a new podcast as part of his return to public life. So far, it may not be going the way most people expected it would (in August, he shared a video on Instagram about selling his truck because he couldn’t afford gas).
Armie Hammer, 38, launched his podcast, Armie HammerTime, at the end of October. His mother, Dru Hammer, was one of the first guests on the podcast. In an episode shared on November 11, 2024, Dru spoke about the unconventional birthday gift she decided to get for her son this year.
On the podcast, Armie and his mom addressed the allegations against him, which first came to light at the beginning of 2021, about six months after he and his then-wife Elizabeth Chambers announced their divorce. Several women came forward, claiming that Armie sent texts about cannibalism and rape fantasies, was emotionally abusive, and took sexual photos without consent, among other allegations.
Addressing the cannibalism accusations, Armie’s mom said, “No one was eaten … but you were stupid.”

She then went on to speak about the gift she gave him for his 38th birthday. “Let’s talk about what I gave you for your birthday this year,” Dru said on the podcast.
“So I call Armie, and I go, ‘Armie, what would you like for your birthday this year?'” Dru continued. “And he goes, ‘I don’t know, maybe money. Whatever.’ And I was like, ‘I believe I’m going to give you a vasectomy.'”
When Armie went to a doctor’s office to schedule a vasectomy, he first had a consultation with a doctor who wanted to make sure he was confident in his decision.
“He was like, ‘Are you sure you wanna do this?’” Armie explained. “I’m like, ‘I have two beautiful kids. I don’t want any more kids. I’m good to go.'”
Armie shares two children Harper, 9, and Ford, 7, with ex-wife Elizabeth.
After the consultation, the doctor told Armie to go speak to the receptionist again and pay for the procedure.
The receptionist asked Armie if he would be using insurance or a credit card to cover the costs. Armie said he didn’t have insurance, and his credit cards “wouldn’t cover this.” Instead, Armie told the receptionist, “My mother’s going to be calling you and she’s going to be paying for it.”
Since the receptionist was clearly baffled, Armie explained the situation to her: “I go, ‘Yes, my mother gave me this as a birthday present.'”
This did not help the receptionist understand what he was saying. “It just was one of those things like you could tell she was hearing something and like, ‘I’ve never heard — what are you talking about?'” Armie said on the podcast. “So yeah, my mom got me a vasectomy for my birthday.”
Armie’s mom said she’s “not stupid.” “I thought, ‘OK, well I’m not going to tell him not to have sex outside of marriage, which is what I’d like to tell him as a Christian mother,” she explained. “But that isn’t going to happen.”
