Gavin Newsom does not seem to be letting up on his relentless trolling. After several significant wins for Democrats during the 2025 elections on Tuesday, November 4, the governor of California once again took to social media to poke fun at the president. Over the past several months, Newsom has mimicked Trump’s notoriously unhinged communication style as a way of mocking him.
For example, he’s posted about “hating” Kid Rock in the same way that Trump claimed to “hate” Taylor Swift, he’s promoted his own MAGA-inspired merch, and he’s referred to politicians like Vice President JD Vance by childish nicknames. This time, taking inspiration from the Trump family’s apparent love for AI-generated imagery, Newsom posted some AI-generated photos of Trump as a baby. One post shared by Newsom’s press office on X showed (an adult) Newsom pushing baby Trump in a stroller. Baby Trump was clearly crying, and Newsom appeared to console him.
Two additional posts showed Newsom giving baby Trump a pacifier, while another one showed baby Trump crying and sitting in a high chair while Newsom tried to feed him. Newsom also shared some Trump-like AI-generated content via his own X account.

One video he shared shows Trump crying (again) while wearing a red cap that reads “Newsom was right about everything.” Newsom’s trolling comes after California voters voted in support of Proposition 50, a redistricting measure meant to counter Trump. It was a response to redistricting in Texas and other ways in which Trump is “rigging the game,” according to Newsom.

After California voters supported the ballot measure and Newsom mocked Trump on X, one of Newsom’s followers suspected that Trump would “post on Truth Social at least 7 times.” Later, Trump took to Truth Social to celebrate…himself? He posted a lot of different things, including several posts about the 2024 presidential election. “Happy Anniversary!” he wrote in one of the posts. “On this day, November 5th, one year ago, we had one of the Greatest Presidential Victories in History — Such an Honor to represent our Country. Our Economy is BOOMING, and Costs are coming way down. Affordability is our goal. Love to the American People!”
In another, he wrote, “Our 2024 Presidential Campaign was HISTORIC and, together, we are Making America Great Again, GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!”
He also acknowledged the 2025 elections, claiming, “‘TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT, AND SHUTDOWN, WERE THE TWO REASONS THAT REPUBLICANS LOST ELECTIONS TONIGHT,’ according to Pollsters.”
