Trump Under Fire After Posting Image Naming Himself ‘Acting President Of Venezuela’

President Donald Trump recently referred to himself as the “Acting President of Venezuela,” and people are genuinely concerned. Though it’s far from Trump’s only shocking social media post, people are still surprised each time the president somehow manages to post something worse than what he’s shared before. On Sunday, January 11, Trump took to Truth Social to share an image of a fake Wikipedia page that refers to him as the “45th & 47th President of the United States” — and “Acting President of Venezuela.”

Trump’s actual Wikipedia page does not say this.

The image Trump posted on Truth Social seems to be an edited version of his real Wikipedia page, as the image he shared includes the same portrait and both the real version and the image Trump shared refer to him as the president of the U.S. But the version Trump shared claims he’s served as the acting president of Venezuela since January 2026.

On January 3, 2026, U.S. military forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Afterwards, Trump claimed that the U.S. would “run” Venezuela, but Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez is currently acting as the country’s leader.

On social media, people couldn’t believe Trump actually claimed to be the “acting president of Venezuela.” Commenting on how Trump is regularly reaching new lows, one person said, “I feel like every time I blink, it gets worse.” Another critic referred to Trump as “a danger to the country” who should be “removed” from office.

Also, doesn’t he have other things to do?

Of course, Trump’s apparent desire to run other countries is concerning on multiple levels. But several critics pointed out that aspiring to be “acting president of Venezuela” didn’t come across as very “America First.” As one person on Reddit wrote, “Is this all part of the ‘America’ first plan? Because it seems a hell of a lot like it’s a Trump first situation.” Someone else said Trump is trying to do “any and everything other than leading his own country.”

Others could imagine it getting worse. “I am genuinely surprised he is not calling himself the king of Venezuela,” one of them commented. Someone else said, “Trump wants to rule an empire.”

People almost couldn’t believe that the post was actually real. “He literally posted a doctored Wikipedia-style image of himself calling himself acting president of another country,” another person wrote. “Like who does that outside of a weird cartoon. It’s wild.”

Unfortunately, it’s not the only thing Trump has posted about controlling other countries. He also shared a screenshot of an X post that read, “Marco Rubio will be president of Cuba. 😂” The original post was written by someone else, but Trump captioned it with, “Sounds good to me!”

He also asserted that the U.S. is the ‘hottest’ country in the world.

In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The United States of America is the Hottest and most Successful Country anywhere in the WORLD!!!” But some people saw his post about serving as “acting president of Venezuela” as an attempt to distract people from everything happening in the U.S. right now.

“Why worry about domestic problems like rising costs, deficit, and health care when he can pretend to be ruler of another country instead?” one Redditor pointed out.
