This ‘Oddly Horrifying’ Story Of A Teen Waking From A Coma Is Resurfacing Again

People can’t even begin to imagine how devastated a young woman in France must have been when she woke up from a coma thinking she had become a mom, only to realize it wasn’t actually true. Clélia Verdier, 19, was in a medically induced coma for several weeks in 2025. During that time, she had extremely vivid dreams that felt like genuine experiences and memories that she could even recall when she woke up.

The young woman told The Daily Mail that when she woke up from the coma, she even told her parents that they were grandparents because her dreams about motherhood were that detailed.

So, when she found out she was not a mother, she was shocked.

Her dreams were extremely specific, to the point that the three children she welcomed in her dreams had names: Mila, Miles, and Maïlée. Beyond that, though, Clélia could recall experiencing physical pain and strong emotions related to childbirth and motherhood.

She told the publication, “When I dreamed about giving birth, I felt the stress. I also felt a lot of pain.” This made the experience feel so real to her, especially because she lost one of her babies in her dreams and she felt “overwhelmed with sadness and guilt” when it happened.

The dreams made her feel like she had gained years of life experience.

In addition to giving birth and holding her children for the first time, Clélia dreamed about raising her kids. She witnessed them grow older over a period of several years and noticed the differences in their personalities.

Some of the experiences she shared with these children in her dreams were just ordinary things like enjoying meals together and going for walks, she told the publication.

Learning that none of it had actually happened in real life was really challenging for her, and she still misses the children she welcomed in her dreams. “I lived as a mother – even if it was ‘just a dream,'” she told The Daily Mail. “With everything I felt and experienced, I will always be their mother. It was my only reality for a while.”

Her story has resurfaced on social media and people really feel for her.

The story resurfaced on Instagram this month, and a lot of commenters reacted with empathy. Several people pointed out that they’ve had dreams that felt so real to them that it was a bit jarring when they woke up. So, they could understand why Clélia was shocked and heartbroken after this experience.

“Think about how dreams can mess w your emotions though,” one commenter wrote. “Have you ever woken up from a really emotional dream you thought was real? This is like that but times 10000.”

Others could actually relate to Clélia’s experience. “Poor her💔 I dreamt of a baby as well and became so close to it and then I woke up,” someone else commented. “I was devastated.” And a few other people confirmed that they, too, had extremely vivid (and emotional) dreams while in a coma. “That actually sounds really tough,” another person added.
