In case you missed it, Rumer Willis and her ex, Derek Richard Thomas, are currently involved in a bitter custody dispute. They welcomed their three-year-old daughter, Louetta, in 2023 before officially splitting up in 2024. Rumer has accused Derek of abuse and drug use. In court documents she filed for custody of their daughter, Rumer alleged that Louetta was “traumatized” after being exposed to Derek’s alleged emotional abuse. Now, Derek has filed new documents and accused Rumer of “commercial exploitation” of their daughter.
He said Rumer had Louetta appear in a commercial with “adult sexual humor.”

In the newly filed court documents, Derek argued that “commercial exploitation of our daughter in sponsored social media content or toilet paper commercials featuring adult sexual humor” is “not in Louetta’s best interest,” per In Touch.
Derek claimed that he did not approve of Louetta’s appearance in this particular toilet paper commercial, which was for Plant Paper, a plant-based toilet paper company. Rumer and Louetta both appear in the ad. It starts with Rumer saying, “I want to talk to you about anal…” After a long pause, she says, “Health.”
This seems to be the “adult sexual humor” Derek was referring to in his complaint. Later in the ad, Louetta is sitting on Rumer’s lap and says, “They don’t use bleach.” Rumer responds, “That’s right Lou and it’s lab-tested free of PFAS.” Then, Louetta adds, “Mama, did you poop in the woods?”
Derek isn’t OK with their daughter participating in “paid commercial advertising.”
He wrote, “On February 22, 2026, I sent Respondent a written objection to Louetta’s appearance in paid commercial advertising, noting a specific ad which contained adult sexual humor that was not appropriate context for a two-year-old. Respondent did not respond.”
In addition to highlighting the ad he objected to, Derek also accused his ex of launching “a coordinated media attack” against him. He claimed that Rumer’s “coordinated media strategy” has involved going to “dozens of outlets.” Meanwhile, he said he has “not given a single interview or made a single public statement.”
“Litigation in the media is not in Louetta’s best interest,” he added. He also said the way this could “harm” their daughter is “a serious concern.”
Previously, Rumer alleged that she could not trust Derek to care for their daughter.

She accused him of abusing marijuana and at times being “so high” that he could not look after Louetta. “On one occasion when Louetta was a few months old, we were watching a movie and I went to the bathroom and asked him to watch her,” she claimed. “From the other room, I heard a thump, and I heard her crying, and I went in the room. He was so high, that he could not even watch her for those couple of minutes without her rolling off the couch.”
She also alleged that Derek “let (Louetta) fall off the bed once in November 2023.” In response, Derek admitted that he previously used marijuana, but never “(engaged) in the use of marijuana to such a degree as to render me unable to fully and properly fulfill my duties and obligations as Louetta’ s father.”
Additionally, Rumer accused Derek of “horrible abusive and hostile behavior.”
According to her, his “prolonged circular verbal attacks” would last for “over six hours” at a time. “I was constantly trying to keep the peace and walk on eggshells,” she alleged, adding that “it was difficult for me to stand up to (Derek) as I tried to avoid his emotional tirades and abuse even for a long time after he moved out.”
Derek said he and Rumer made a “mutual decision” to end their “unhealthy” relationship. He claimed that he has “committed no acts of domestic violence in any form,” and their relationship was not “characterized by any violence, physical or emotional attacks or intimidation on my part.”
