In many schools in the United States, there's a dress code in place that is enforced to ensure students are dressed appropriately and not in any kind of provocative way.
But many parents believe that, in many ways, this dress code only encourages the sexualization of young girls' bodies. Sometimes, the dress code goes too far in trying to make these young ladies modest, and instructors and staff in power take it one step too far in trying to enforce these rules.
One mom was absolutely outraged when her daughter's skirt — one that the mother bought for her — was called a "clubbing skirt," The young girl was publicly embarrassed by her appearance in the process.
This is just one case when a parent has stood up for their child. Misty Garcia is absolutely baffled by how her daughter's dress could possibly be deemed inappropriate by school officials.
Garcia's teen daughter was wearing a babydoll dress that reached just above the knee, along with leggings underneath. The school suspended her for the day, and Garcia thought that the best course of action was to take her home.
After her complaints and an investigation of the claim, it was determined that the outfit was perfectly acceptable and appropriate for the dress code.
But Garcia's story matches that of many parents who are disgusted and appalled by the way their daughters are scrutinized and objectified on a daily basis.
