Several months after Dave Coulier announced that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, his wife, Melissa Bring, has shared an update on the former Full House actor’s health. During an interview published on January 22, Melissa told WXYZ that in spite of “some really tough days,” her husband has “such a positive attitude.”

“He has some really tough days, and as the chemo has been accumulating it gets a little tougher and more difficult,” Melissa told the publication. The actor, 65, previously told People that getting diagnosed with cancer was “pretty overwhelming.” At the time, he told the outlet that he chose to maintain a positive outlook not just for himself, but also for his wife. “I thought, ‘You know what, I’m going to be strong throughout this, not just for me, but I’m going to be strong for her,’” he said.
As Dave battles cancer, he and his wife have found a special way to incorporate joy into their daily routines, Melissa revealed during the recent interview. “Every morning, if he’s feeling up for it, we try to put on a song and do a little dance party with the dogs, because when you do feel good, you have to celebrate that, too,” Melissa told WXYZ.

Unfortunately, Dave has lost several loved ones to cancer. However, their strength also inspires him. “He has had a lot of loss in his life when it comes to having to deal with cancer. He lost his mother, his sister, his niece. His other sister had it,” Melissa said.
Dave previously told People that seeing “what those women in my family went through” made him realize, “If I can be just 1/10th of a percent as strong as they were, then I’m going to be just fine.”
Melissa said her husband “takes every stride and really pulls strength from seeing the women that were so close in his life to powering through it, and he just wants to honor them.”
In November 2024, John Stamos, Dave’s longtime friend and former costar sparked backlash when he donned a bald cap to show “solidarity.” Afterwards, Dave defended John and explained why he uses humor to cope with the challenges he faces in life, including his cancer diagnosis.
“I’m still going to laugh in the face of adversity,” he wrote at the time. “When I lost my sister, Sharon, my mother, Arlen, and my niece, Shannon, to cancer, we tried to stay positive, and we made each other laugh through the worst of it.”
