President Donald Trump is praising his wife’s new documentary — not that he’s actually watched it. The documentary, titled Melania, is set to come out on January 30. It documents First Lady Melania Trump’s preparation to return to the White House in the 20 days leading up to her husband’s inauguration.
Apparently, the president thinks this documentary is worth watching, but he has only seen “pieces of it” himself.
Trump commented on how people seem interested in the movie.
Though Trump hasn’t actually finished watching the documentary, he’s confident that it will be successful. He’s heard that people are interested in watching it, at least. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump said he has “seen pieces of it” and those pieces are “incredible.”
What did Trump have to say about it other than that? He confirmed that it is, indeed, a movie.
“I think it’s going to do very– you know, she did a book and the book was a big number one bestseller, and this is a movie,” he said. “And it seems to be captivating a lot of people’s attention.”
He seems to think it’s great because Wayne Gretzky allegedly wants to watch it.
Unsurprisingly, Trump also boasted about the venue that will host the film’s premiere: the Kennedy Center, which now bears his name as well. “The premier [is going to be] at the Trump Kennedy Center, it will be very exciting,” he said, emphasizing that the tickets are allegedly highly sought after.
He then name-dropped one of the famous individuals who allegedly wants to attend: former hockey player Wayne Gretzky. “Wayne Gretzky and his wife Janet, beautiful wife, great wife,” he said. “They said last night, ‘Gee, I want to go to…’ A lot of… everybody wants tickets to the premiere. I think it’s going to be great.”
There might be a bit of family drama involved.
Trump might not know a ton about the film, but his wife was reportedly very involved in its creation. Insiders who actually did watch the film told journalist Rob Shuter that Melania “signed off on every take, every frame, every line,” including “Donald’s reactions” and “Barron’s tiny moments” (Barron hardly appears in the film since his mom is so protective of him, the sources claimed). Additionally, Ivanka Trump was reportedly not included in the project at all — because Melania didn’t want her there. An insider said, “Melania and Ivanka do not get along — not at all. There’s real tension, and Melania made it clear she didn’t want Ivanka anywhere near this film.”
