Melania Trump’s New Side Gig Raises Eyebrows Over Bezos–Trump Relations

First Lady Melania Trump has a new side hustle that raises concerns about the Trump family’s ties to Jeff Bezos. On November 28, Melania announced that the documentary, which is titled Melania, will be in theaters on January 30, 2026. It will reportedly be available on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service after that. Previously, The Guardian reported that Amazon spent about $40 million for the rights to the documentary.

As she promoted the project, she also revealed her new side gig: a production company called Muse Films. In a simple X post, she wrote, “PRESENTING: MUSE FILMS My new production company. MELANIA, the film, exclusively in theaters worldwide on January 30th, 2026.”

People see it as another example of the Trump family’s grifting.

President Donald Trump continues to promote his merch, Eric Trump recently published his book (which his dad also promoted), and now Melania has her own production company? In response to Melania’s announcement, one X user wrote, “A new grift!”

According to film logline, the documentary follows Melania as she “orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and reenters public life with her family.” It is said to include “exclusive footage capturing critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments.”

In January, Melania described the film on Fox & Friends, saying, “It’s day-to-day, from transition team to moving to the White House, packing, establishing my team, the first lady office, moving into the White House, what it takes to make the residence your home, to hire the people that you need.” On Reddit, critics called it a “money grabbing grift.”

To be fair, Barack and Michelle Obama also launched their own production company called Higher Ground Productions. However, they started it when Barack was no longer in office.

People also have questions about Amazon’s ties to the project.

Bezos, who also owns The Washington Post, decided that the publication would not endorse a presidential candidate ahead of the 2024 election. Later, after Trump was elected, Bezos attended his inauguration. On Reddit, in light of Amazon supporting Melania’s documentary, someone accused the billionaire of “pandering” to the Trump family. Per the Boston Herald, not long after Trump won the election, Amazon had reportedly already made this deal. The deal reportedly includes a follow-up docuseries on the First Lady as well.

Per Deadline, a spokesperson for Amazon Prime said, “We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world.”
