Mamie Laverock is recovering from the five-story fall that left her with "life threatening injuries" in May. The When Calls the Heart actress, 20, took her first steps since the fall, according to a now-deleted video that had been shared on her Facebook page on Friday, August 2, 2024. In the video, Mamie wasn't sure if she would be able to get up or walk, but she pushed herself off the hospital bed and stood with the help of a walker. Medical staff members helped her take her first steps since the fall.
Once she was standing, Mamie said "it feels really weird." The actress, who portrayed Rosaleen Sullivan on When Calls the Heart, first went to the hospital due to an unspecified medical emergency on May 11. However, while at the hospital, she reportedly fell from a walkway on May 26.
On a GoFundMe page started by her family, her family said that Mamie "was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories." In May, Mamie's mom, Nicole Rockmann, told the Los Angeles Times that the fall was not intentional.

At the time, Mamie's family said she was put on life support and had to have "multiple extensive surgeries." On June 26, Mamie's mom shared an update on Facebook, writing, "Mamie survived her injuries, however her road to recovery will be long."
Mamie's mom also shared an update on July 9, the day after Mamie's 20th birthday.
In a post shared on Mamie's Facebook page, her mom said, "Mamie moved onto her stomach, pushed herself up and held onto me..at that moment we realized we could have our first hug."
In July, two months after Mamie's fall, her family shared that they decided to shut down the GoFundMe page that had been set up to raise money to cover Mamie's medical expenses in Canada. Through the online fundraiser, the family raised about $28,220 USD.
"The Fund has now closed. Please know how much you helped this family in our hardest circumstances. Thank you for caring. Warmth, Nicole and Rob," Mamie's mom and her stepfather, Rob Compton, posted on July 17.
A message that appeared to come directly from Mamie was also posted.
"Thank you so much. I don't even know what to say. My heart is full," the message read. "Thank you again. I have no words to describe my gratitude. Love you guys. Thank you."
