Though his wife has said that his look is “all natural” and not the result of a makeup routine, Vice President JD Vance can’t seem to shake rumors that he’s wearing eyeliner. Rumors and jokes about Vance’s alleged makeup have been circulating for some time, but his recent appearances have only fueled more speculation.
Previously, JD Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, addressed the eyeliner rumors and told Puck News that she’s “always been jealous of those lashes.”
Former congressman George Santos has also insisted that Vance does not use eyeliner. “I’ve met him in person before he was a senator and I can confirm he has long eyelashes and they cast a shadow on his waterline when is studios full of lights,” Santos wrote on X in October 2024.

However, a lot of social media users remain unconvinced. “Yes he does,” one person responded to Santos. “Is it from Sephora or Ulta?”
During Vance’s recent meeting with President Donald Trump and Irish leader Micheál Martin, multiple social media users once again noticed that the vice president looked like he might be wearing eyeliner.

“JD Vance went heavy on the eyeliner this morning,” journalist Aaron Rupar wrote on X when sharing a clip of Vance speaking before the meeting. In response, one person wrote that “he’s in his emo phase.”
Many others agreed that Vance looks like he could be in an emo band. “Why does this dude look like he’s always about to break out into an emo song?” another person responded on X.

One person who saw the clip of Vance wrote, “Maybelline called and said they’ve had to ramp up eyeliner production to keep up with JD Vance’s demand.”

Of course, many of the eyeliner jokes come from Vance critics, but he does have a few defenders in those who have made eyeliner jokes about JD Vance, suggesting that they’re just “jealous” of Vance’s “great eyes.”
