A new clip that shows Second Lady Usha Vance walking way ahead of her husband, Vice President JD Vance, without looking back is reigniting divorce rumors. People have already been questioning their relationship for some time now. For one thing, some of JD’s critics have even questioned why Usha is with him in the first place. And then, there’s also the fact that she’s been spotted without her wedding ring and they’ve been photographed looking very… distant.
In the recent video, the distance between them looks even more obvious. However, people have very different opinions about what it signifies.
The video shows the couple stepping off Air Force Two.
Usha gets off the plane before JD does. The clip shows her walking down the stairs without even looking at her husband. JD stopped to wave while walking down the stairs, and Usha kept walking then quickly sped up to get to the car waiting for them.
Some people on X took this to mean that they could be dealing with marital issues. “I see two people who look like they aren’t happy, or even speaking to each other,” one person commented on the video. Someone else said Usha “looks more like she’s running away from him.”
People also compared them to President Donald Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump. “Hard to tell if she hates J.D. more than Melania hates Trump,” another critic wrote. “Probably a tie.”
But others didn’t see it as a huge deal.

Because, yeah, maybe Usha was annoyed in that moment. Or maybe she was tired. Several people argued that either of those things could be true without it saying anything about the state of their marriage. Quite a few commenters noted that Usha is probably just “exhausted” and wanting to get home. And that doesn’t mean she’s trying to run away from her husband.
“As a pregnant woman, she’s probably uncomfortable and just wants to hurry and get out of view of cameras and to get off her feet!” one person pointed out. “She looks tired, that’s all,” someone else agreed. “Wanting to go home.”
And you know what? Maybe she was irritated by JD in that moment. Presumably, she gets mad at him sometimes, and it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re on the brink of divorce. “Maybe they had an argument,” another commenter suggested. “They are human.” Fair enough.
Previously, Usha admitted that she and her husband don’t always see eye to eye.

During an interview with NBC News’ Kate Snow, Usha said, “We have totally different backgrounds, right? We have different starting points for thinking about all sorts of questions, but one of the benefits of being in a marriage as opposed to, I’m not a staffer, I’m not involved in this in any professional sense, is that there’s no expectation that we’re going to see eye to eye on everything.”
She added, “The expectation is that we are going to be open-minded and have a conversation, and that I’ll provide meaningful input from, you know, the perspective of someone who loves him and wants him to succeed. So even if we don’t agree, I think it’s always very productive.”
She didn’t elaborate on how their opinions differ, but she did sort of dodge a question about whether she owns a MAGA cap.
