Jenna Bush Hager’s Kids React Terribly To Her ‘Powerful’ New Haircut

Many parents would agree that kids really do humble you sometimes. Recently, when Jenna Bush Hager unveiled a new haircut, her own children turned out to be her harshest critics. The Today with Jenna & Friends host filmed her kids’ reactions to her bold haircut and they were honestly pretty dramatic.

Jenna decided to see how a bob haircut would look on her after her cohost Leslie Bibb inspired her. On Today, Leslie assured Jenna that her new bob makes her look “sexy,” “powerful,” and “glamorous.” Jenna’s kids were much less kind.

During the show, Jenna shared the video of her kids’ reactions. She and her husband, Henry Hager, are parents to Mila12, Poppy, 9, and Hal, 5. Before showing the clip of how they reacted to her new haircut, Jenna admitted that her kids probably “thought they were getting a puppy.”

After seeing her haircut, her kids started to scream. “I don’t like it,” Mila told her mom. Jenna’s son Hal agreed. Meanwhile, Poppy seemed genuinely perplexed by her mom’s hair decision and said, “What are you doing?”

Poppy then started fake crying and walked away from her mom, clearly disappointed. After watching the video, Leslie was stunned. “Your children are monsters. They’re monsters! They started crying,” Leslie said to Jenna.

Jenna then explained her kids’ behavior. “I know! It was sort of fake crying, I mean that’s our love language,” she said. “But also, do you remember being a little girl?” She said she and her cohost are both from the South and when they were growing up, everyone around them seemed to have long hair.

Leslie and Jenna both agreed that people tend to associate long hair with being more feminine, princess-like, or from a fairy tale — which might be why Jenna’s daughters didn’t love the short hair look. However, Leslie also reminded everyone that “fairy tales don’t exist.”

Luckily, Jenna’s husband defended her. When he saw her haircut, he said, “Damn, that’s hot!” When their 9-year-old daughter told Jenna that her hair didn’t look good, Henry simply said, “She don’t know fashion. She’s 9.”
