Sometimes, kids find their parents embarrassing — it’s practically inevitable. For children of celebrities, that experience is something else entirely, given that their parents’ actions are often on display for the world to see. On June 14, 2025, Gwyneth Paltrow took to social media to share a topless cooking video. Her daughter Apple Martin, 21, was seemingly able to find humor in it. But she did have questions for her mom.
In the video, Gwyneth demonstrated how to prepare a Tuscan-inspired “boyfriend breakfast,” which included white beans, spinach, cherry tomatoes, eggs, and “sausage from the local butcher.”
Some of the Goop founder’s fans simply commented on the recipe and her cooking process, but many others focused on how she prepared the meal while topless. Some critics accused the 52-year-old of cooking topless to get “attention.”
“We’d still watch if you had a top on,” one person commented on the Instagram reel.
Others found it deeply unrelatable. “Lil dangerous to be cooking with no shirt on, wow 😮this is rich people faking life,” a second critic wrote.
A third added: “No time to put on a shirt over an open flame but…time to make beans from raw. I don’t relate to this.”
Gwyneth’s daughter Apple, however, offered a more lighthearted take on the surprising video. “Did I steal your shirt by accident or….” Apple commented. Gwyneth responded with a simple crying laughing emoji.
While the topless cooking video was a bit unexpected, it’s not that shocking coming from Gwyneth. Recently, at the Mindvalley Manifesting Summit in Los Angeles, Gwyneth continued to defend the vagina-scented candle that her brand released in 2020. The $75 “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle started out as a joke, but once it ended up on Goop’s website, Gwyneth decided to keep it there.
To her, the candle felt empowering and “kind of punk rock.” “I kept it on the site because there is an aspect to women’s sexuality that I think we’re socialized to feel a lot of shame,” she explained. She also shared a message with those who didn’t agree with her decision to name the candle after vaginas: “Go f‑‑‑ yourself.”
