Jenna Bush Hager Says Her Dad George W Bush Simply ‘Raised His Eyebrows And Went Viral’

Former President George W. Bush has gone viral for his Inauguration Day facial expressions, though his daughter Jenna Bush Hager says her dad “didn’t do anything.” On an episode of Today, Jenna said photos of her dad at President Donald Trump’s inauguration have been “blowing up our family group chat.” She added that “the internet’s obsessed with this little smile and goofy expression.”

On social media, numerous people shared photos and clips of the former president’s facial expressions.

“George W. Bush looks like he put a whoopee cushion on Hilary’s seat and he’s anxiously waiting for her to sit on it,” one person jokingly captioned a clip shared on X.

“George W. Bush at the inauguration is me when I see the waitress bringing my food,” another X user shared.

However, his daughter Jenna maintains that he wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary at the inauguration. On Today with Jenna & Friends, Jenna told actress Scarlett Johansson that her father doesn’t really have to do anything in order to go viral. “He goes viral for basically anything,” Jenna said. “He didn’t do anything, that’s what his face looks like. That’s his face.”

“He raised his eyebrows and went viral,” she continued, adding that her dad “actually was very well-behaved.” Earlier in the episode, she defended her dad’s interesting facial expressions. “You guys, you can’t just blame him because it looks like my dad was also seated next to a bad influence,” Jenna explained. “Take a look at what former President Barack Obama had to say.”

The show then cut to a clip of someone asking former President Bush, “Are you going to behave?” However, Obama answered the question with, “Nope.” After showing the clip, Jenna said, “I just love how when they’re together, they become unusual friends.”

She echoed this sentiment while in conversation with Scarlett. “They’re pals,” Jenna said, referring to her father and Obama. “It shows that even in divisive times that we have so much more that unites us.”
