Ladies, would you ever propose to your husband? Well, you might be surprised who has. Jenna Bush Hager went out on a limb of courage when she was 22 years old. After several cocktails, and only three months of dating, she popped the question to her husband, then-boyfriend, Henry Hager.
Yes, she proposed! On Monday's episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna, the cohost recalled the hilarious evening when she asked Henry to marry her. This happened a few years before the couple actually got engaged.
"I was 22 years old, my sister was standing with us, we were dancing and Barbara just started shuffling backwards," Jenna shared. "She was like, ‘What is happening here?’ We’d only been dating three months. He told me he loved me and I’m like, ‘Me too! Let’s get married!’”
But Henry turned her down. “He said no, but then five years later we got married," she explained. "He didn’t say no — he was just like, ‘Uh uh uh.’” Henry ended up proposing a few years later, when Jenna was 25.
