Some people are so convinced that Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff might be headed for divorce that even their recent outing didn’t put an end to the rumors. On June 25, the former vice president and her husband attended a World Cup match at Los Angeles Stadium.
While at the U.S. Men’s National Team match, Kamala and Doug smiled for a selfie and then happily posed for another photo.
A clip included in Kamala’s Instagram post provided her followers with a glimpse at their relationship.
The video footage showed Kamala and Doug posing for a selfie before former NSYNC member Lance Bass offered to take a photo for them. “Let’s go @usmnt!” Kamala captioned the post. She added, “(And thank you to our excellent photographer @lancebass!)”
Lance also shared a couple of photos that Kamala and Doug were featured in and captioned them with, “Consider this my official application to be Team USA’s hype man🇺🇸”
Based on these photos, Kamala and Doug seemed to have a great time at the soccer match (in spite of the team’s loss).
However, some people remain convinced that they could be getting divorced.
Understandably, Kamala was really busy when she was running for president, and she then went on a book tour for several months. Their time apart and the pressure that came from her presidential campaign had some people online questioning whether their relationship would last.
And these rumors were exacerbated by tabloid reports that claimed Kamala had moved out of their shared home and into a home in Malibu. In May 2026, RadarOnline alleged that Kamala relocated to focus on politics. The tabloid reported that Kamala sees the new home as her “perfect retreat.”
An unnamed insider alleged, “Kamala is focused on trying to win the Democratic nomination again – with or without Doug’s support.” However, a later report from the same tabloid suggested that Kamala did not move to Malibu to get away from her husband or leave by herself. Instead, she and Doug appeared to move to Malibu together to live in a “more secluded” area.
There are also critics who have had doubts about Kamala’s relationship with her husband for some time now. In a discussion on X, one critic speculated that her marriage was “a sham marriage” that she used to “prop her Presidential campaign.”
Someone else claimed the marriage “was probably faked anyway.”
Not everyone believes the rumors, though.

In fact, numerous Kamala supporters flocked to the comments on her World Cup post to write that the country would’ve been better off with her and her husband in the White House. “Yall look so good and refreshed,” one person commented on Kamala’s post. “What we could’ve had.”
Someone else said, “MY PRESIDENT AND FIRST GENTLEMAN 😍❤️ you both are stunning! 👏🏽🫶🏽 I love to see it, looking forward to you both being in the White House 2028.”
A few commenters clearly had regrets, with one person writing, “I’m sorry should have supported you.”
Another commenter called Kamala “the president we WANT to see at sporting events,” and several commenters compared Kamala and Doug to President Donald Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump. “We could’ve had a first couple that actually loved each other lol,” one person wrote. So, clearly not everyone is convinced that divorce is imminent, in spite of the rumors that just won’t go away.
