Prince William and Kate Middleton just released their 2023 Christmas photo. The black and white image almost resembles a stock photo that would be a placeholder in a frame bought at Target. The Prince and Princess of Wales are joined by their children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, and dressed casually in matching jeans and white button-up shirts.
This photo sends the message that the royals are just a regular family. The picture does not convey their lofty royal status. It is not even overly Christmassy. They left that to King Charles and Queen Camilla, who used a snap from their coronation in May in the Throne Room of Buckingham Palace.
Photographer Josh Shinner said he had a blast shooting the photos. “It was such a pleasure to photograph The Prince and Princess of Wales and their family for the Christmas portrait this year,” Josh posted on Instagram. “Without doubt one of the most relaxed and enjoyable sittings I’ve ever had, and I now have a whole new set of jokes that are right on my level thanks to the children.”
William and Kate work hard to make sure their children’s lives are as normal as possible. "Those children look pretty happy with life," a source close to the couple told People. "A lot of it is the stabilizing normality Kate brings — and that's how she grew up. William absolutely loves it."

Kate is a hands-on mother and expects similar behavior from William. "Coming from a different background, she appreciates the importance of having family time," another source told People. "She wasn't brought up in that aristocratic setting where you see the children for a short time each day."
