ABC Anchor Fired For Making Off-Camera Sexist Comment About His Female Coworker

It is never OK to say mean or racist comments, and modern technology has aided in exposing such comments, as there are cameras and microphones everywhere. You could say this is a plus side to Big Brother always watching. One popular news anchor was recently fired for an alleged insensitive remark he made on a hot mic.

There is much speculation surrounding the termination of ABC7’s Ken Rosato. Much of it revolves around what was actually said. Page Six is reporting that one source claims the comment that was directed at the coanchor was a four-letter word. Higher-ups at the New York-based station are not willing to confirm this.

Rosato was a longtime host of the station's morning show. His comments were directed toward his coanchor, Shirleen Allicot. Page Six’s source claims he called her a “see you next Tuesday” and was immediately fired because of it.

ABC did not comment on Page Six’s story, nor did Rosato’s representatives. His reps did, however, shut down the rumor that he made a racist comment.

“Being fired for any racial slur is 100 percent inaccurate and untrue. Ken Rosato had a benchmark of 20 years at WABC of supporting all equality,” the source stated emphatically.

Before being terminated, Rosato had been with the network since 2003. He began as a freelance reporter before moving into the morning and noon anchor positions. His colleagues were informed of his departure via email on Friday, May 12.
