Kevin Costner’s Soon-To-Be Ex-Wife Christine Is Spotted Out Without Her Wedding Ring

A wedding ring is an outward symbol of the commitment you make to your spouse. A way of signaling to the world that you are pledged to each other. Taking it off sends a big message.

On Monday, May 1, 2023, Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce from actor Kevin Costner. On May 3, she was spotted out and about without her wedding ring. Christine is not messing around and is very serious about starting her new life now.

The Daily Mail was the first to break the news about Christine’s lack of ring. It published the photos to back it up. It is a reverse-Beyoncé moment. Kevin liked it and put a ring on it, but Christine took it off, becoming an almost-single lady again.

Christine was seen in Santa Barbara, California, on Wednesday, May 3, running errands. She was wearing chic white slacks and a simple beige sweater underneath a denim jacket. The lack of a ring was the headline.

Christine works as a fashion designer. She is citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for her petition for divorce. She wants to share joint custody of her three children with Kevin.

For his part, Kevin was apparently completely blindsided by Christine’s request. He denies any allegations of infidelity. He also wants joint custody of the children.

Christine and Kevin share three children: Cayden Wyatt, 15; Hayes Logan, 14; and Grace Avery, 12. Kevin has a total of seven kids. He shares three adult children — Annie, 39; Lily, 36; and Joe, 35 — with ex-wife Cindy Silva. He shares 26-year-old Liam with ex-girlfriend Bridget Rooney.

Laura Wasser, a high-profile celebrity divorce lawyer, is representing Kevin in this matter. Court documents filed on Kevin's behalf state that spousal support will be “payable to petitioner pursuant to the terms of the parties.” That’s legal jargon for a prenuptial agreement.

A representative of Kevin confirmed the divorce filings to TMZ. “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action. We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time,” the rep stated.

A source close to Kevin spoke exclusively to Page Six. “Kevin was very surprised by Christine’s actions, he obviously doesn’t want the divorce and he would take her back. It’s disappointing, he loves her and he loves his children,” the source shared.
