It is not an easy decision to end a marriage, but is sometimes necessary. Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa announced two years ago that their marriage was over. People is reporting that Lisa has now officially filed for divorce.
According to court documents, Lisa cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their relationship ending. She did not ask for either party to get spousal support. She also asked for joint custody of their two children.
Lisa and Jason first announced their breakup in January 2022. The couple share two children, daughter Lola, 16, and son Nakoa-Wolf, 15. Lisa has another daughter, actress Zoë Kravitz, with ex-husband Lenny Kravitz.
Although their marriage was only three years long, the couple were together for 17 years. Lisa was also Jason’s childhood crush whom he watched on The Cosby Show. They first met at a Jazz club in 2005.

Sparks flew while jazz played. The couple left the club together that evening as Lisa drove Jason home. They stopped at the 101 Coffee Shop in Hollywood where they had their first unofficial date. Jason was impressed when Lisa ordered Guinness and grits.
Lola was born at home on July 21, 2007. Her name was inspired by the hawks that flew overhead on the day of her birth. On December 15, 2008, Nakoa-Wolf joined the family. His first name means "warrior" and was inspired by the stormy weather on the day of his birth.
In July 2014, the couple starred in their first acting project together. The film Road to Paloma was also co-written, directed, and produced by Jason. Lisa played Magdalena and Jason played the character Wolf, who avenged his mother, which forced him to run.
In October 2017, Lisa and Jason officially married. They tried to keep it a secret but someone leaked it. "You know what, I've been married to my wife for 12 years," Jason told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “It's just a gathering of our families and celebrating our love."
In January 2022, Jason and Lisa announced the end of the marriage via a joint statement posted on Jason’s Instagram. "We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception…,” it began. "And so, we share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage."
"The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become," they continued. "Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life our children. Teaching our children what's possible. Living the Prayer. May Love Prevail,” the statement concluded.
