Mama June Defends Herself Against Harsh Backlash For Using Social Media During Tough Times

"Mama June" Shannon is defending herself after receiving backflash from commenters about her social media use. Users appear to be concerned about her heavy social media presence amid her daughter Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell's stage 4 cancer diagnosis.

The 44-year-old TV personality posted a video to her Instagram and TikTok platform on August 13, 2023. In the video, she is seen pranking her husband, Justin Stroud. She is partaking in the "Gobbler Challenge," where she is sitting on the couch in a dress with her legs open, tempting her husband to look at her "gobbler."

A user commented that they didn't approve of her sharing content on her social media so frequently while Anna battles stage 4 adrenal carcinoma. Mama June replied, stating that she uses social media as a "break from reality."

“Well let me school you just a little bit, and Anna will even show you this for herself,” she started. “We speak almost on a daily basis. This [has] all been hard on all of us and she knows that but if she was really bad off, I mean come on I have common sense we wouldn’t be going anywhere I would be right there like we always have every time that she had a chemo treatment.”

She and Justin live five minutes away from Anna, and she says they visit Anna frequently. “Life doesn’t stop even though some days it feels like I’m living in a dream with all this,” she continued. “It’s a daily struggle for me [mentally] and [emotionally] to deal with and [sometimes] to get through the day but I have to. I needed a break from reality for a minute even though it’s in the front of my mind every second of every single day so me posting on social media doesn’t mean I don’t care or ain’t there for her during this. Thanks for your optimism but until you walk a day in my shoes [you] or anyone [do not] have any idea what I deal with and struggle with.”
