There are a lot of moments when celebrities become uncomfortable during interviews. Some interviewers tend to take things too far when it comes to questions and what celebrities are willing to discuss. Then there are others who just come off as rude.
On a boat in New York, Mariah Carey was doing an interview with MTV. She had just released her new album Butterfly. This was shortly after her scandalous separation from Tommy Mottola, an American music executive.
This was a time in Mariah Carey’s career when all eyes were on her, and everyone was watching her every move. Tabitha Soren was conducting the interview with Mariah Carey for MTV. She started to ask Mariah Carey tricky questions, but Mariah’s publicist, Cindi Berger, was not having it.
Mariah was more than happy to answer all the questions that Tabitha was throwing at her, but Mariah’s team was listening very attentively. They eventually told Tabitha to stop asking Mariah questions.
Cindi Berger told Tabitha that her time with Mariah was up and that the interview needed to be done. Tabitha did not take it very well. She told Cindi, “I should’ve been given some sort of warning because I have a couple of other questions that I have to ask. Can I beg for 5 more minutes?”
At this point, Mariah was losing her patience with Tabitha. She had been giving interviews all day, and she was more than ready to be done. She had recently started dating MLB star Derek Jeter, so she was ready to see her new beau.

Mariah’s team used the excuse that the boat had to return to port, but Tabitha wouldn’t give up. Tabitha then turned to Mariah and asked if she could ask her five more questions. Mariah replied, “Can we just finish it up calmly?” Instead, Tabitha turned back around and said, “I’ve been through h*ll over the last couple of months for this interview, and you’re not going to f**k me over now.”
Mariah’s team allowed Tabitha to finish the conversation. Even though Mariah finished the interview, Tabitha’s behavior did not leave Mariah Carey with a good impression.
