Nick Cannon Shares Message Honoring Late Son Zen, Who Died Due To A Brain Tumor In 2021

Nick Cannon took to Instagram to honor his late son Zen, whom he shared with model Alyssa Scott. Zen died in 2021 when he was 5 months old because of a brain tumor.

"Zen’s Light and presence shining over little miss Halo and Mommy and Daddy!" Nick wrote on Instagram on January 21, 2024. "What a beautiful day to remind us all that there is a higher power and God’s Energy and frequency to keep us all going under his grace and mercy even in the midst of challenges." Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott also share a daughter, Halo Marie Cannon, who was born on December 14, 2022.

Nick Cannon has 12 kids with different women. Bre Tiesi, who also shares a child with Nick Cannon, commented on Nick's post to share her support.

"✨ ," Brie commented.

"I love that you support his other baby mamas! ," an Instagram user replied.

Nick previously opened up about the decision to not have Zen go through chemotherapy. Speaking on Paramount+'s The Checkup with Dr. David Agus, Nick said that after about two months, he and Alyssa noticed that something seemed off about their baby's breathing.

"We noticed his head was a little larger, [but] all my kids have big heads. I was a big-headed baby," he said, per People.

When they took Zen to the doctor, the doctor was concerned about the size of Zen's head. Zen was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer.

When chemo was presented as an option, Nick was concerned about Zen's quality of life. He learned that the treatment would "not really" improve the baby's life or help him live longer. Nick also considered how the treatment would require Zen to spend all of his time at the hospital.

"From that point, they pretty much told me that best case scenario, your son could live to 3 or 4 years old," Nick shared, per People. "So instantly when I heard that, I thought quality of life. I wanted him to have the best existence he could have."
