The ocean can be a scary place. It goes on for miles, you never know what’s under your feet, and it can be dangerous when it wants to be. A fear that many have when it comes to the ocean is being lost at sea, and Terry Jo Duperrault had to face that fear all alone.
Terry was only 11 years old when she and her family went on a vacation in the Bahamas. Little did they know, their family vacation was about to take a dark turn. Her father, Arthur, saved up money for this trip for years, wanting his kids to experience amazing adventures in their life.
With enough money saved up, Arthur took his wife, Jean, and his three kids, René, Brian, and Terry Jo, to the south of Florida to start their voyage. Arthur decided to charter a 60-foot sailing boat and hired Julian Harvey as their captain. The captain brought his wife of four months with him.
As with most family vacations, the trip started out with high hopes and smooth sailing. A few days in, they passed the Bimini Islands. After that, things started to go terribly wrong.
One night, Terry was woken up by a chilling scream, curious as to who it was, Terry went up to the deck to investigate. There, she found her mother and brother lying in a pool of blood. She would soon come to find out that her whole family had been murdered.

Arthur had uncovered the captain's plan to murder his wife, causing Arthur to be a part of the captain’s plan. Terry’s mother and brother were woken up by the commotion between Arthur and the captain, causing them to, unfortunately, be killed by the captain as well.
