On Monday, February 5, 2024, Buckingham Palace made a shocking announcement. King Charles III was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer. It was reported that he told his immediate family personally, including sons Prince Harry and Prince William. Tensions have been high with his youngest son ever since Harry and wife Meghan Markle stepped away from official royal duties in 2020.
Upon hearing the news, Harry made immediate plans to visit his father. He was spotted at London’s Heathrow Airport on February 7. It is believed he arrived on February 6 and spent about 24 hours in the UK.
Harry visited Charles at Clarence House, the king and Queen Camilla’s official London residence. The father and son had a brief private meeting. It is the first time they have seen each other in person since Charles’ coronation in May 2023. It is unknown where Harry stayed overnight because he gave up his Frogmore Cottage home in 2023. Harry and Meghan now make Montecito, California, their home base.
A source close to the family believes this father-son meeting is a step toward mending family tensions. "That is good," the source mused. “Hopefully [Harry] will bring the grandchildren at some point too, as that would be lovely for all of them."

Harry did not see his brother Prince William on this trip. A source told People there were no plans for that to happen. The brothers have not seen eye to eye for some time and it doesn’t look like that is going to change anytime soon.
