Shannen Doherty is once again opening up about her experience with stage 4 cancer, but this time the Beverly Hills, 90210 actress is back with some good news! On Monday, January 29, 2024, the 52-year-old actress shared on her Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty podcast that her new treatment is going really well and for her, it's nothing short of a miracle. “I’m not gonna say what it is," she began. "I’m on a new cancer infusion and after four treatments, we didn’t really see a difference and everybody wanted me to switch, and I just kinda was like, ‘We’re gonna keep going with this and see.’”
In 2023, she shared that the cancer had spread to her brain. “And yeah, after the sixth or seventh treatment, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier,” she said. “Do I call that a miracle? Yeah. For me, that happens to be a miracle right now. That I sort of rolled the dice and said, ‘Let’s keep going.’”
She went on to explain that she tries not to compare her journey with anyone else's. Dr. Amin Mirhadi, her radiation oncologist and podcast guest, said he’s seen similar cancers defeated before, even ones that are known to be terminal.

Shannen shared her first diagnosis in 2015 when she had to undergo a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation for breast cancer. In 2017, she announced that she was in remission.
By 2019, the cancer had unfortunately returned. In 2020, she announced a diagnosis of metastatic stage 4 cancer. Soon, it had spread to her brain and her bones.
The actress believes that the positive effects of her latest treatment is “a miracle of maybe God intervening and saying, ‘I’m gonna give her a break.’” She also believes that people often look for miracles “in all the wrong places.”
“Listen, I can die today, I can die in 20 years, I don’t know,” she said. “I can die walking outside of my house … Or I can die of cancer. But all I can do is leave each day in as much as a positive manner with hope as I can and embrace it and feel like, ‘Wow, I get to wake up again today, what can I do?’”
In an interview with People magazine in 2023, Shannen opened up about embracing life. “I don’t want to die. I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not — I’m not done.”
While she continues to be open about her journey, she also hopes to bring awareness to cancer and raise funds for research. “It’s insane to me [that] we still don’t have a cure."
