Sharon Stone, 66, Recreates Iconic ‘Basic Instinct’ Crossed-Legs Scene With Sexy Photo

Sharon Stone has recreated her look from her iconic scene in 1992 erotic thriller Basic Instinct. In the film, Sharon, 66, portrayed Catherine Tramell, who, at one point during the film, sat with her legs crossed in an interrogation room. While being interrogated about the murder of retired rock star Johnny Boz, Sharon's character uncrossed her legs and flashed the officers. The scene is also controversial, as Sharon has said that she didn't know she would be exposed in this way in the film.

Now, 32 years later, she has shared a photo that hearkens back to the iconic scene.

In a photo shared on Instagram, Sharon wore red lacy lingerie and strappy blue heels, crossing her legs in a way that's reminiscent of the Basic Instinct scene.

In case there was any doubt about the look she was going for, she captioned the photo, "BASICALLY ….YOURS ."

In her 2021 memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice, Sharon alleged that she was tricked into exposing herself for the scene. The film's director, Paul Verhoeven, has denied these allegations.

"[I was told] 'We can't see anything — I just need you to remove your panties, as the white is reflecting the light, so we know you have panties on,'" Sharon wrote in her memoir.

"Yes, there have been many points of view on this topic, but since I'm the one with the vagina in question, let me say: The other points of view are bulls—," she continued.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that was published on July 9, 2024, Sharon spoke about how she dreamed of portraying Catherine in Basic Instinct and tried to "manifest" it.

"I wanted to play her so badly that I had the script on top of my refrigerator for eight months," Sharon told The Hollywood Reporter. "I just kept thinking, 'I’m going to manifest this, I’m going to get this part,' as they offered it to everybody else on the planet."

The role was one that many others turned down, according to the outlet. Sharon said she was "the 13th choice."

The character was — and still is — controversial, and people have mixed feelings when it comes to whether Catherine is an empowering, feminist character or not.

"I guess it depends on if she scares you or not," Sharon told THR. "I would say MAGA people would probably think she’s scary."
