Mom Recovering From Cancer Commits Driving Infraction, Judge Makes An Unexpected Decision

Gabriela was a doting single mother of two beautiful girls, Nora and Maria. Originally from Mexico, Gabriela ended up settling down with her daughters in Providence, Rhode Island, after spending a good 10 years moving around after her husband died of a heart attack.

Even though the mother of two had two little girls depending on her, she fell into a deep depression after the death of her husband. Luckily, she had friends and colleagues who helped her through the tougher months.

It was important to Gabriela to settle down somewhere safe and community-minded, so that’s why she decided that Providence would be a decent place for her family to live.

Nora, Gabriela’s 15-year-old daughter, always worked hard in school and had dreams of becoming a successful lawyer one day. Her younger sister, Maria, loved spending time on stage and had acting aspirations.

Just when it seemed like things were going smoothly for her family, Gabriela got called in to see her doctor after a routine medical exam. She was then told that she had breast cancer and since it was an aggressive form, they had to start treatment immediately.

After her diagnosis and throughout her treatments, neither of Gabriela’s daughters would leave her side. Even though they were just teenagers, they did everything they could for their mother when she was at home experiencing nausea and fatigue.

After three months of treatment, Gabriela’s tumor had shrunk considerably in size. Her fight with cancer certainly wasn’t over, but she started to return to some of her usual daily routines. One day, when she was rushing to pick up her daughters from school, Gabriela committed a serious driving infraction that resulted in a hearing with a judge.
