A friend of the late OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush is speaking out about the dangers he witnessed firsthand with the doomed Titan submersible.
Karl Stanley recently sat down for an interview with 60 Minutes Australia and detailed the red flags he witnessed during his friendship with Stockton. Karl was one of the first people who traveled in the submersible in 2019.
He says, "I think Stockton was designing a mousetrap for billionaires."
Karl also described what it was like to be in the submersible and explained, "I would say every three to four minutes there [were] loud gunshot-like noises. It's a heck of a sound to hear when you're that far under the ocean. And [in] a craft that has only been down that deep once before."
Karl also says that Stockton was angry when he raised his concerns. He says, "I literally painted a picture of his wrecked sub at the bottom [of the ocean] and even that wasn't enough."

Karl even believes that Stockton was seeking some kind of fame. As he put it, "He was risking his life and his customers’ lives to go down in history. He's more famous now [for this] than anything else he would have ever done."
