Actor Treat Williams’ Cause Of Death Released Two Months After His Passing

On June 12, 2023, actor Treat Williams, best known for his roles in the 1979 movie Hair and the popular television series Everwood, died at the age of 71 in Vermont. Two months after his passing, his official cause of death has been revealed after the Bennington County State’s Attorney completed its review.

Williams was riding his motorcycle when he was hit by a car. Ryan Koss, the driver who struck Williams, has been formally charged with “grossly negligent operation with death,” according to Vermont State Police. After the crash, Williams was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Williams suffered “critical injuries in the crash.” As a result he was “subsequently pronounced dead” at the medical center. The medical examiner officially ruled his cause of death as “severe trauma and blood loss as a result of the crash.”

Koss, 35, has been cooperating with authorities. He has already been processed and released. His arraignment is scheduled for September 25, 2023.

Williams' loved ones remember him as “full of love for his family, for his life and for his craft.” They lament he was seemingly “at the top of his game in all of it” before his life tragically ended too soon.
