Rescued Golden Retrievers Go To Camp In Touching Documentary

Every Labor Day weekend, hundreds of rescued golden retrievers and the humans for whom they care descend upon Camp Weequahic in Lakewood, Penn. The annual event, called Goldstock, is a celebration of dogs and of rescue, and is the inspiration behind the upcoming documentary Dog Camp.

The new movie trailer chronicles the people who run the annual camp and those who attend. So, what exactly is Goldstock?

"It has been described as the most fun you can have with your dog and your dog can have with you… It is a time to share our love of dogs with people of like minds, all in support of rescue," the camp's website says.

This 2015 lineup is full of exciting events including a "Doggy Olympics" competition, a baseball game, and a rescue parade, which includes a special recognition of senior dogs.

The event was started in 1998 by Gail Lustig, a New York City dog walker whose father built the camp in the 1950s.

"It's emotional. It's fun. It's promoting rescue. It's raising money," Ms. Lustig says in the trailer for Dog Camp, an upcoming documentary film about Goldstock. "It's really an indescribable weekend where so many things go on."

Dog Camp is set to be released in November.
