Kelly Ripa Shares Photo To Suggest She And Mark Didn’t Prepare Too Hard For ‘Live’ Debut

On April 14, 2023, Live aired its last show featuring Ryan Seacrest as cohost. On Monday, April 17, 2023, Mark Consuelos joined wife Kelly Ripa for their first show as permanent cohosts. The show is now officially called Live With Kelly and Mark.

To prepare for this big day, Kelly and Mark took to Instagram. They shared a photo of them napping so very hard along with their two dogs. It does take a lot out of you to host a morning show. Kelly captioned the photo “severe prep work in progress.”

Mark joked in the comments "that was a clip from our Only Fans feed.” Other friends and family showed their support as well. Many especially dug the pillows in the photo that had “I want to be where the people aren’t” embroidered on them.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna quipped, "I also want to be where the people aren't."

Actress Jenny Mollen agreed and wants those pillows for herself. She commented, "need this pillow."

Kelly's personal trainer asked the obvious question: "Wait. Who took this picture?!? ." Kelly even had an answer for that. "I'm assuming Lola or Michael who drop in to see us when we're sleeping," she joked.

This was not the only funny post Kelly made about her and Mark’s preparations. She also posted a photo in her IG stories of the duo drinking coffee with the text "practice makes perfect” overlaid. They take this very seriously.

Monday’s show went off without a hitch. Kelly said that Mark was "joining me today — and permanently, until one of us dies."

Mark got a bit more sentimental. "Thank you for trusting me to be your copilot. … Thank you, America, thank you — Hayley and Mateo forever,” he said, referencing his and Kelly’s All My Children characters.

Mark and Kelly first met in 1995 when Mark screen-tested for the popular soap. He got the part and soon also won Kelly’s heart. The pair eloped in Las Vegas one year after meeting. They share three children: Michael, Lola, and Joaquin.
