Sewer Backs Up Into Elderly Veteran’s Home, Then He Spots 3 Strangers Digging Up His Lawn

A kind plumber hailing from Prospect Park, Pennsylvania, made major waves on the internet this week after stepping in to help out an elderly man in his community.

Andrew Henry is a top-notch plumber. According to his cousin Mike Meehan, he's also just an all-around great guy. Mike found himself in a fix last week after a sewage disaster started to threaten his own home, and the home of the elderly veteran living next door.

When Mike discovered that his next-door-neighbor, Gregory, didn't have the funds to help get the shared pipe fixed, he called up his dependable cousin Andrew, then posted about the experience that followed on Facebook.

Like the totally awesome guys who stepped in to fix up a house that was falling down in their neighborhood, Mike and Andrew put their heads together and figured out a way to help out the elderly veteran without putting him in a financial fix.

They assembled a whole crew of guys, got their hands on some supplies, and helped end Gregory's gross plumbing disaster once and for all!

I want to take a moment to recognize my cousin Andrew Henry and here’s why.

My neighbor Gregory who is elderly, retired, and disabled recently had a sewer line break in our shared front lawn. The sewage was backing into the houses.

After speaking with Greg a few times about the issue it became clear that he didn't have the insurance needed to repair the sewer or have sufficient funds, actually none.

As you can imagine it was an unpleasant situation and was not something that should be left unattended.

Andrew spoke with Gregory and also found out that he is a retired Air Force veteran.

After a few rounds of conversation back and forth, Andrew decided he wanted to help Gregory in a time of need.

This Saturday, on his day off, and with a $1000 donation (cost of material), he gathered some help and put a new sewer line in for him.

Thank you Andrew for giving back to your community and for helping Gregory and my family.

The world could definitely use more people like you.

If anyone in Prospect Park, PA, or surrounding towns needs the services of an excellent plumber please consider reaching out to Andrew.

Here's Andrew, caught hard at work!

And here's Gregory, overlooking the proceedings.

The elderly veteran isn't able to get out and do manual labor anymore, but you can tell just how much he appreciated Andrew's work.

He watched the process from his door, using his walker to to support himself while Andrew's crew sorted out the plumbing.
