Sisters Playing On Separate March Madness Teams, Devoted Mom Doesn’t Miss Any Games

A dedicated mom was adamant about seeing both her daughters play in the March Madness tournament. Tammy Brown has two daughters who play basketball: Tamari Key, a senior center for the University of Tennessee, and Teonni Key, a sophomore guard for the University of North Carolina. During the regular season, Tammy was on the road regularly, as she wanted both her daughters to see her in the stands cheering them on.

Now that both teams secured spots in the NCAA March Madness tournament, Tammy has devoted even more time on the road, bouncing between both arenas to make sure she doesn't miss her daughters competing.

In an interview, the mom shared that she has made over 40 games in Chapel Hill, Knoxville, and other cities over the past few months. She explained that it requires patience as she maps out how she can make it to each game. “Back and forth, back and forth. That’s what I do. And I’m excited about it,” she said.

Tamari spoke to the news outlet, WRAL, as well, showing gratitude for her mom’s dedication. “Just knowing that she’s in the games and looking over in the stands. I can also hear her voice in most of the games, too. So, it’s special,” she said. Both girls suffered injuries recently, so their mom's unwavering support means even more now than ever.

“It was even more important when they were going through the struggles. Just making sure you know, regardless of what you’re going through, I’m going to be there,” Tammy said. “Just being able to see their journey and knowing that we did it. We made it through and they continue to make me proud every day.”
