Nick Cannon has heard the criticism of his growing brood, and he's not here for it.
During a recent interview, a joke was leveled at Nick about welcoming four children in the last seven months. Nick is dad to 10-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-wife Mariah Carey, 4-year-old Golden and 7-month-old Powerful Queen with ex Brittany Bell, and twin boys Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir with Abby De La Rosa. He then welcomed Zen with Alyssa Scott just days after the twins were born.
Nick is making it known that he is deliberately having children with the women he's having children with. He then compared himself to a seahorse as he explained where his mind is at as a dad of seven.
Nick Cannon was interviewing the hip-hop duo City Girls on his radio show when the subject of his growing family came up. Nick told his guests he's "having these kids on purpose."
"I don't have no accident," Nick said shortly after welcoming his seventh child, a boy named Zen. Zen is the fourth child born to Nick in the last seven months.
"Trust me, there's a lot of people that I could've gotten pregnant that I didn't."
"The ones that got pregnant are the ones that were supposed to get pregnant," he continued.
"I'm like a seahorse out here. That's just the way I'm procreating."
Zen was born just days after the birth of twin brothers Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, whom Nick welcomed with Abby De La Rosa. He had his fourth child, Powerful Queen, with Brittany Bell in December. Brittany is also mom to his 4-year-old son, Golden.
Nick is also dad to 10-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe. He's already gushed about what a good big brother and big sister they are to Golden, so surely he's excited to see them with their new siblings.
"They love hanging out with him, and it is almost like they are more concerned about him having fun than them having fun," he told Entertainment Tonight when Golden was a toddler.
"They are always trying to make them laugh, and he is walking now, so they are trying to get him all the toys," he continued.
"Watching that whole older sibling thing take place, they understand the responsibility of it. They understand that they can teach him things, so it is really cool."
He's also talked about positively co-parenting with Mariah Carey, which is a skill he'll certainly need while co-parenting with four different women.
"When you come from a place of understanding and unconditional love for so many things, you can't really go wrong," he explained.
"It would be very easy to throw our egos in — what we believe we want to do with our time and effort — but then you step back. … When it comes to my kids, it is whatever they want at whatever time, and I build my schedule around it."
