Ryan Gosling's girls have a name they call him that melts his heart every single time, and the actor recently shared what that is. He shares two daughters — Esmeralda Amada, 9, and Amada Lee, 8 — with his wife, Eva Mendes. He shared with the outlet that his girls have been learning Spanish and call him Papi with a cute little accent. "It kills me every time," he said. "There's just nothing, nothing better than that."
In a previous interview with Variety, the Barbie actor opened up about why he took a step back from the spotlight in 2018. “Just to be with my family. I didn’t want to miss anything,” he said. “My priorities changed, and I wanted to be with my kids. It’s going super fast. I hear the clock ticking.”
“I don’t know how much time I’m going to get, and I don’t want to spend it in the wrong place,” he continued. “I know I’m not spending it in the wrong place if I’m with my family.”

In a WSJ Magazine interview, Ryan revealed that he made the decision not to take any more roles in psychologically twisted movies. His decision came from wanting to be in a better state of mind when he goes home to his family.
"I don't really take roles that are going to put me in some kind of dark place," he said. "This moment is what I feel like trying to read the room at home and feel like what is going to be best for all of us. The decisions I make, I make them with Eva and we make them with our family in mind first."
In March, a source close to the couple shared with People that they moved their kids outside of Los Angeles to give them a quieter childhood. "For them, the most important job is their girls," the insider said. "Everything else comes second."
"And their girls are thriving. They left LA to live a bit further north, away from Hollywood," the source continued. "They didn't want the girls to grow up around other celebrity kids. Eva and Ryan love their life. It's admirable how they've been able to create balance and boundaries. They care so much about their marriage and just want their girls to live a happy life."
In August 2023, another insider told People about the couple's parenting style, calling them "hands-on parents" and revealing that they have "little help" with their girls. "When they are not working, they are all about their girls," the source said. "Ryan is such a fun dad. He is goofy and his girls love it."
"He takes them out by himself for various activities. As a family, they enjoy visiting the desert and the beach," the source continued. They are a very active family. Eva and Ryan seem happy. They tend to be flirty and hold hands. It's cute."
