Sarah Ferguson Expresses Support Of Prince Harry And Meghan Markle: ‘She Makes Him Happy’

It's hard to believe that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still so polarizing to the royal establishment. The couple has been married for three and a half years and share two children, and yet they haven't been entirely embraced by many for the decisions they've made.

That's especially true of those inside the royal machine. It's no secret that there's still tension between the couple and members of both the family and the staff.

Still, there's someone still pretty beloved within the royal family who is certainly rooting for the couple. Sarah Ferguson is opening up about how happy she is for Harry and how he's living a life that would make his mother proud.

Sarah Ferguson is expressing her support for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It's rare for someone within royal circles to support the couple since their decision to step away from royal life, but Sarah is as unique a member of the inner circles as they come. Despite being divorced from Harry's uncle, Prince Andrew, she continues to live with him at a royal residence, Royal Lodge.

Sarah also shares the unique perspective of having known Harry's mother, Princess Diana, before either of them were royals. The two became friends as teens, and Diana even introduced Sarah to Andrew.

Sarah was all too aware, both as a family member and as a mother, how much pain Harry was in after his mother's sudden death. It's for that reason that she's so happy to see him living life on his own terms.

"The most important thing — and I know Diana, if she were here, would say that — is they are happy," Sarah told Italian talk show Porta a Porta when asked about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, per People magazine.

"She makes him happy," Sarah said of Meghan.

"And I love to see that little boy that cried at the funeral to have happiness now."

It's not the first time Sarah has expressed her pride in her nephews. She has also spoken to People about how Diana would love the men they've become and the lives they've chosen to lead.

"She would be very proud of her sons and their wives," she shared.

"And she would be just like me, obsessed with her grandchildren. Because that's what she loved."

Sarah also noted that as she was close with her nephews, Diana was close with her nieces, Sarah's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

"[Diana] adored my girls. She adored the boys," Sarah said.

"This would be her haven. Her heaven."

"If she were sitting with me right now, I know she would say, 'I am so proud of both of my boys and the wonderful wives they have chosen,'" Sarah said of Diana's daughters-in-law.

"Because each has got her own voice."
