Taking care of a sick family member is hard, especially if this relative is elderly. Not everyone has the funds and resources to put these individuals in homes where professionals take care of their needs. And sometimes, their family loves them too much not to dedicate their lives to them.
Mother Carla Brooks knows this struggle. She spent 20 years taking care of her sick husband Karl following his two strokes. At the same time, she had a son named Barton to keep an eye on.
But when Karl passed away, Barton knew exactly what to do. After she spent so many years dedicating herself to the needs of others, Barton decided to treat his mother in a massive way: by taking her on an all-expenses-paid trip to Europe.
Together, he, his mother, and his partner Gregg Goodbrod, are backpacking around Europe, going on at least 20 outings — one for each year she spent taking care of Karl.
For 20 years, Carla Brooks took care of her sick husband, who suffered two strokes. She also has a son, Barton, who is all grown-up now.
Karl recently passed away, so to thank his mother for her dedication to a loved one, Barton decided to take her on the trip of a lifetime.
The two jetted off to Europe, on an all-expenses-paid trip for Carla. They planned to hit 20 outings, one to mark each year of her dedication to Karl.
Just one of their destinations is Paris — one of Barton's favorite places!
Barton's partner Gregg was able to join them on the backpacking trip, making it even more exciting.
It looks like Carla is having a well-deserved blast!
