Tragedy struck in Tennessee on October 1, 2023. Seven-year-old Alexandra Hope Kelly died while popping her birthday balloons according to mom Channa Kelly. She had just turned 7 on September 22.
Channa left her daughter happily popping her balloons and went to lay down. When she came back into the room, Alexandra was face down with a balloon over her head. Channa is sharing her story in hopes that it helps other parents out there so this never happens again.
Channa remembers her daughter fondly. “She was wonderful, so vivacious and independent,” she gushed. “She loved swimming. She was absolutely amazing, just the sweetest little girl with a big heart.”
Channa never wants another parent to feel what she is feeling. “I want people to know so they can be aware,” she explained. “That’s what took my baby, it was her birthday balloon. It’s hard to comprehend.”

Police are involved in this matter. Authorities are still investigating Alexandra’s death. An exact cause has yet to be determined.
