Reazjhana and Damarqus Williams of Denver were so excited to meet their daughter, Kyanni. They prepared for a natural birth, but things didn't go according to plan.
When doctors struggled to find the baby's heartbeat, they gave Reazjhana a pill to speed up the labor process. Before she knew it, she was being rushed into the maternity ward for an emergency cesarean section.

While C-sections can be scary, the couple couldn't have anticipated what happened next.
As soon as Kyanni was born, the couple's elation quickly turned to fright — because the C-section caused a deep, massive cut across their baby's cheek.
Instead of bonding with Kyanni, Reazjhana and Damarqus had to hand her over to a plastic surgeon. The newborn baby needed 13 stitches on her face.

"I've never heard of anybody having to deal with their baby's face looking like this after a C-section," Reazjhana told WGNT.
As the story went viral, nurses across the country began echoing those sentiments, that it's very rare for these types of injuries to occur during C-sections.
