Now that countless homes all across America are preparing for Christmas, it's no surprise that many of them are filled with beautiful-looking (and smelling) Christmas trees!
The tradition is incredibly old, and while some people will happily opt for a fake Christmas tree, there's just nothing that can beat the look and feel of a genuine tree inside your home.
However, while we don't use candles as ornaments anymore, these trees can still pose a huge fire risk, and every year too many homes suffer some serious fire damage when these trees burst into flames!
Whether it be from an electrical spark or some other wild act, these trees can get incredibly dry if their trunks aren't kept in water. Even though these trees are dead, you have to keep some water at the bottom to ensure that they keep from getting too dry!
The video below shows a first responder running a test fire in a controlled environment to help spread awareness about the proper way to put out one of these horrible fires. Within 30 seconds of getting sparked, these dry trees become a terrible inferno. Moments later the whole room is totally destroyed.
If not controlled, these fires can spread quickly and destroy a whole home, which is certainly not something that makes for a very good Christmas.
So please, if you know anyone who has a real Christmas tree, make sure to tell them to keep it watered!
And please SHARE this video if you're thankful for first responders!
