When I Saw How He Combined These Colorful Pieces Of Wood, I Knew I Wanted One, Too…

I love everything about carnivals — the rides, the contests, the fact that anything from an onion to an Oreo can be deep fried and copiously consumed without judgment. But my favorite element of all has to be the games.

It’s not just winning the coveted prizes like a goldfish or a whoopee cushion that draws me to these games like the aroma of fried dough lures me to a funnel cake stand (I know, I have a problem). It’s that I’m good at them — and I’m not alone.

Just check out the guy on the left in this video, he’s throwing basketballs into a carnival game’s hoop with both hands like he was born to win a Winnie The Pooh plushie the size of a three-year-old.

Performing well makes anyone feel good about themselves, regardless of how silly that thing may be, and playing the game below makes me feel pretty awesome. Personally, skee-ball is my all time favorite carnival game, and now you can build one in your own garage. Who knew?

The video below gets a little technical — I wouldn't be able to build it myself — but I still think it's fun to imagine. Even if you're not up to the task, perhaps you know someone who could lend a hand?

Check out the process below, and please SHARE if you would love to own your own skee-ball machine!

This project started with four main pieces, which were cut from 3/4-inch plywood on a ShopBot.

The pieces were then assembled together.

Once all the pieces were cut, the only other tool that was needed was a drill.

A few screws were then put in the right places and drilled in tightly so everything would hold together nice and tightly.

Cork was used to line the ramp so it would be nice and quiet when you roll balls across it, and a metal strip was added to the front so that, if someone really misses, they won’t destroy the machine.

Balls are of upmost importance for this game. These balls were from an ice ball game and were bought on eBay for $10 apiece.
