Marcy of Murals by Marcy got a beaten-down dresser from a friend who was throwing it away. The dresser was much worse off than it looked at first glance. The wood was rotting. There were holes in the crevices. The backboard was missing. It had no knobs. It was certainly a fixer-upper. Still, with Marcy's skillful hand, she completely transforms the piece of furniture for $55 and later sold it for $150. While it did take Marcy a total of 23 hours over the course of a few days, furniture flips are her passion, and she called the project a "labor of love."
First, Marcy carefully fixes all of the basic needs of the dresser. That means a lot of sanding, filling in holes, and a little help from her husband. Next came the makeover. Marcy painted the dressed a tasteful light pink with black piping and added crystal knobs. The top of the dresser was painted with black and white stripes. The look is fit for any bedroom, but would go great in a young girl's room because of its funky, youthful style.
What do you think of Marcy's project? Have you ever flipped an old piece of furniture?
