Pioneering Mom Blogger And Writer Heather B. Armstrong, AKA Dooce, Dies At Age 47

Author and famous blogger Heather B. Armstrong has died at the age of 47. Heather was mom to two children, Leta and Marlo.

Heather burst onto the blogging scene early in its infancy when she launched her website Dooce. The site was named after a nickname she earned at her previous job. Heather was fired from the job after she wrote about her workplace online; she pivoted and turned that same website into a multi-million-dollar enterprise.

In the early years, fans were enthused and comforted by Heather's refreshingly honest take on parenthood. She offered solace and reassurance to many new parents who worried they were doing the wrong thing. Her book It Sucked and Then I Cried: How I Had a Baby, a Breakdown, and a Much Needed Margarita was a bestseller.

Heather's marriage to Jon Armstrong ended in 2012. Her struggles with mental health, something she had always been honest about, appeared to become more pronounced in the years that followed. Heather remained honest about what her experience was like, even to a degree that startled some.
