Judy Garland Absolutely Mesmerizes In This 1942 Clip Of ”For Me And My Gal”

Judy Garland is perhaps best known for her role as Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz. "Over The Rainbow" is such a classic song that it's been covered by many groups, like these Australian train performers. Judy Garland herself performed the song in 1955 in front of an audience, which was a rare occurrence.

But on the anniversary of her first public performance, Judy Garland is remembered for other roles. She didn't just stun as Dorothy, but as other characters as well.

80 years ago this month, a 13-year old Judy appeared on the Shell Chateau Hour radio program and sang "Broadway Rhythm." And from that point on, the young girl who was born with the name Frances Gumm continued to mesmerize her audience.

Over the course of her career, she appeared in three films with Gene Kelly, another fan favorite. This clip from the 1942 film For Me And My Gal, shows us how extremely talented they both were. The film, a period piece, is set in 1916 during WWI. Together, they perform "Ballin' The Jack," a song originally written in 1913 by Jim Burris.

We are completely mesmerized by the fluidity of Judy's movements in this clip. She was a fantastic singer, but she was also a dancer of unparalleled talent!
