Mom Of Spanish Soccer President Accused Of Harassment Hospitalized Following Food Strike

Angeles Bejar, the mom of Spain's soccer president, has been hospitalized after going on a hunger strike in support of her son. Luis Rubiales is under heavy scrutiny after kissing soccer star Jenni Hermoso on the lips after Spain won the Women's World Cup against England.

While Rubiales sticks to his story that the kiss was consensual, Hermoso denies that she ever gave him her consent. Bejar was admitted into Santa Ana hospital after refusing to eat for three days, noting that she was feeling tired and stressed.

Bejar locked herself in a church and went on a hunger strike as a way to protest what she believes is unfair treatment of her son. Despite protests against him, Rubiales refuses to resign, even though Spain's entire soccer club vows not to play if he remains president.

Rubiales was suspended for 90 days on Saturday by FIFA, soccer's governing body, and is at risk of losing his job. He is currently under investigation.

Not only does his mom believe he is being treated unfairly, but other family members are standing by his side during this time. "There is a campaign of harassment and destabilization against him that is not fair," said Vanesa Ruiz Bejar, Rubiales' cousin. "His mother, who is a very religious person, has taken refuge in God."
