SC Man Dies Of Heart Attack While Attempting To Bury His Girlfriend In Their Own Backyard

A South Carolina man had a heart attack while trying to bury his dead girlfriend in their own backyard.

The man allegedly strangled his girlfriend to death before digging a hole and throwing her body in it. He died before he finished the job in what appears to be one of karma's most shocking tricks ever.

According to the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office, the man was 60-year-old Joseph McKinnon. They say he killed his 65-year-old girlfriend, Patricia Dent, inside their home.

Officers discovered his body after they responded to reports of “an unresponsive male lying in his yard,” Sheriff Jody Rowland said in a news release. Officers spotted his body on the ground first. Then they found Dent's body in a newly dug pit.

Authorities reported that he had suffered a “cardiac event” while attempting to fill in the pit. While there are still many questions about what led to McKinnon killing his girlfriend, it is believed that he attacked her inside of the home. An autopsy confirmed that strangulation was the cause of death.
